- Occurrence remarks
- Two Mallee Ringnecks (Australian Ringneck, mallee form) feeding together on dry, short grass and bare ground in a rural garden just after sunrise, after overnight rain. One bird brightly coloured with a clear red frontal band and orange belly band; the second duller with a greyer head. They fed close together, moving slowly across the ground, for at least four minutes.
- Uncertainty remarks
- Location generalised to whole degrees (about ±60 km) to protect a private home site. Subspecies from plumage and range. Sex of the two birds not certain: the duller bird may be a female or a young bird.
- Occurrence status
- Present
- Behaviour
- Feeding on the ground together on dry grass and bare soil at sunrise; stayed close as a pair.
- Data quality statement
- Identification checked from the photos against field marks; name checked as an exact match in the ALA name index (AFD) on 3 Nov 2026. Phone photos at 3.8x zoom in low dawn light, so fine detail is limited. Location deliberately generalised to whole degrees (±60 km). GPS removed from the published images. No playback or baiting used.
